RAVENGOLD is a Gothic magical realism tale set in regency-era Europe, spanning precisely one tumultuous year. Matthias, a destitute beggar lad turned man of the world, confronts ancient forces of darkness. Mistaken for a wealthy heir but inheriting the sins of his alter ego, he is in perpetual flight. Unwittingly engaged to the ghostly Baroness Brigitte, who forever searches for her lost love, Matthias must keep her fulfilling his wishes to avoid being whisked away to the realm of shadows. However, each well-meaning act triggers unintended and often disastrous consequences. Gaining wealth and privilege – but also succumbing to callousness and depravity – he faces moral dilemmas and suspicion, finding himself on the path of darkness. His attempts to break the curse involve elaborate tasks, revealing shocking family secrets and the blackness in his own soul. As Matthias gradually unravels the truth, he becomes increasingly entangled in the Baroness’s manipulative plot, leading to uncanny adventures, unexpected twists, and a bittersweet resolution.
